Group Members: Thongphet Phonsavath (Lao PDR), Zipporah Masaki (Kenya), Oladipupo Oladejo (Nigeria). The problem of safe drinking water shortage exists in many countries like Kenya, Lao PDR, Nigeria and Philippines. A water filtration technology using ceramic water filters (CWF) was developed by the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), one of the Research Institutes of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Philippines. The establishment of production centers for CWF is one of the potential solutions for providing safe, clean and potable water in the Philippines and for possible adoption in the above-mentioned other countries. It would be a low-tech, sustainable solution to access to potable water, while also stimulating local economic development.
