Nigeria is an oil-rich country with a current national GDP of US$414 billion making it the biggest economy in Africa, however the per capital GDP is US$2,800 which is 73% lower than the world’s average meaning that most of Nigeria’s population (70%) are under the poverty line with a critical problem of unemployment. This initiative is intended to empower the rural communities in Lagos State to start up and profitably run three green businesses related to waste management sector as a form of local organization working together, sharing benefits and using green technologies, in the next 5 years.
