Group members: Cameline Nafula (Kenya), Gifty Tettey (Ghana), Saeed Al-Zakaria Foroco (Ghana), Nathan Awuapila (Nigeria), Nosayaba Oka (Nigeria). The abattoir industry in most developing countries is challenged by increased complexity and demands from globalization, growing competition, and skilled manpower shortages, among others. Damage caused to the environment by industrial meat production is broad and pervasive and prudent measures need to be taken to ensure environmental sustainability through efficient resource use to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This project, which will span a four-year period, seeks to develop sustainable consumption and production and scale up incomes through effective facility management in abattoirs in Nicaragua.
